Pros and Cons of online proctoring during pandemic

INTRODUCTION:

           online proctoring is a method of  monitoring and supervising online exams to prevent cheating and maintain test  regularity. Like any technology driven solution it comes with its own set of the pros and the cons 

PROS:

          Cheating Determinations like Online proctoring tools use various methods like webcam monitoring, screen sharing detection, and AI algorithms to determine and detect cheating during online exams. This helps to  maintain the integrity of assessments and  Convenience. Online proctoring allows students to take exams from the comfort of their own homes, eliminating the need for travel and physical test centers . Educational institutions can save money on physical test centers and  by opting for online proctoring solution accessories. Online proctoring can make exams more accessible to students with disabilities, as it can be customized to accommodate various need of Time Saving. The outcome of online proctoring can save time that could  be spent on manual supervision .

CONS:

Privacy Concerns like  Online proctoring often involves invasive monitoring, which raises privacy concerns and Students may feel uncomfortable with cameras recording them in their private space .Technical Issues like Technical problems, such as poor internet connectivity or software glitches, can disrupt exams and unfairly disadvantage to students and Discrimination algorithms used in online proctoring may have basis that disproportionately affect certain groups of students, leading to unfair outcomes .False Positives Online proctoring systems may generate false cheating alerts, causing stress and inconvenience for innocent students.  Security: Despite efforts to deter cheating, determined individuals may find ways to online proctoring systems, making it less than foolproof.

 CONCLUSION:

                            Online proctoring offers the advantage of maintaining exam integrity and convenience, but it also raises privacy, technical, and fairness concerns. Institutions must carefully consider these pros and cons when deciding whether to implement online proctoring and take steps to address its limitations while we are using it indicates in both positive and negative manner .
